446 miles. 30 days. How far will they go?

Two of my favorite people, Kevin & Serena McClain, are embarking on a soul-searching walking journey across Spain, known as the Camino de Santiago.

With just a pack, a couple of walking sticks, and crazy ambition these two are going to (hopefully) walk a total of 446 miles over the course of about 30 days stopping at towns and villages along the way (that's roughly 13 - 16 miles per day).

However, at any point they can take a cab or bus, or just stop. And if you've ever met K&S, you would not exactly describe them as the crunchy, outdoorsy, hiking type, so this is going to be interesteing. But none the less we wish them all the best and hope they have the journey of a lifetime!

For those of us who are not ambitious (aka crazy) enough to walk about 16 miles a day for 30 days, doesn't mean we can't partake. Let's make some bets on the miles they walk and make a few dollars off our loved-ones' soul-searching journey.

Here are the details and rules:

  • It's $10 per bet and you can place as many bets as you would like

  • Whoever is the closest to the actual miles walked wins the pool (OVER OR UNDER COUNTS)

  • Kevin & Serena will not know who is betting which numbers

  • 20% of the bets will go to Sunsar Maya (a non-profit helping under-priviliged orphaned children received education)

  • Both Kevin & Serena are trakcing their own miles with a FitBit (which I have access to). The average of both of their miles will be the total amount of miles walked.

  • Only miles walked with a back-pack on will count. For example, if they get to town and drop their packs to walk to dinner, those miles will not count.

  • You are able to place bets up until October 11th, 2013

  • You can bet over or under 446 miles (remember we are averaging their miles, so Kevin may walk more to circle back to Serena, or they could get lost)

Click on the "Place Your Bets" tab to get started.

To follow along their journey, you can follow Serena's Blog or Facebook Page

Let's make some money for ourselves and Sunsar Maya!

Best of luck betters and more importantly K&S!
